FIFA WORLD CUP 2023 MASCOT

For this project we were tasked to create a mascot and reveal animation for the FIFA Club World Cup Saudi Arabia 2023™.
My maini role for this project was to design the characters, storyboard the animation as design some of the background art.

INITIAL SKETCHES
The client wanted the Mascot to represent the essence of Saudi Arabia and they encouraged us to explore things related to the culture and iconic landmarks like the desert and the red sea.

CLEAN UP & COLOUR
We narrowed the the designs to the the sea anenome, the stingray and the sand cat
and styled them up with some colour.
CHARACTER REFINEMENT
The client decided to move forward with the Sand cat design and called him Haddaf. They wanted him to be older and look more athletic. I further refined his designs to explore poses, facial expressions and uniform options. I also created a turnaround for the character so that he could be modelled in 3D.
